Quick Timer

What is Quick Timer?

Quick Timer is Elta's fastest way to stay protected during routine activities. Start a timer before you head out, and if you don't stop it when you're done, your emergency contacts are automatically notified to check on you.

No trip planning. No complicated setup. Just tap, go, and stay safe.

When to Use Quick Timer

  • Evening jogs or morning runs
  • Walking home after dark
  • Quick grocery store trips
  • Meeting someone new
  • Solo gym sessions
  • Dog walks in isolated areas
  • Rideshare trips
  • Any activity where you want someone watching your back

How It Works

Step 1: Start Your Timer

Open Elta and tap Quick Timer on the home screen. Set how long you expect your activity to take — 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, or a custom duration.

Step 2: Go About Your Activity

That's it. Head out and do your thing. Elta runs quietly in the background, counting down.

Step 3: Stop the Timer When Done

When you're safely finished, open the app and stop the timer. Your contacts are never bothered.

Step 4: Automatic Alert If You Don't Return

If the timer expires and you haven't stopped it, Elta sends an alert to your emergency contacts with your last known location and a message that you may need help.

What Your Contacts Receive

When a Quick Timer expires without being stopped, your emergency contacts get:

  • A notification that your timer has expired
  • Your last known GPS location
  • Instructions to check on you
  • Your profile details (if you've configured them to be shared)

Tips for Using Quick Timer

Be realistic with your time — Add a few extra minutes as buffer so you're not racing to stop the timer

Keep your phone charged — Elta needs your phone on to track your location and send alerts

Update your emergency contacts — Make sure the right people are set up to receive alerts

Use it consistently — The more you use it, the more it becomes second nature

Quick Timer vs. Check-In

Example Scenarios

Scenario 1: Evening Run Sarah sets a 45-minute Quick Timer before her jog. She finishes in 40 minutes and stops the timer. Her contacts are never notified.

Scenario 2: Walking Home Late Mike starts a 20-minute timer when leaving a friend's place at night. He gets home safely and taps to stop. Peace of mind, zero hassle.

Scenario 3: Missed Timer Emma sets a 30-minute timer for a hike but twists her ankle on the trail. She can't reach her phone. When the timer expires, her emergency contact receives her location and immediately calls for help.
